about Talkeetna lakes park...... right now we are at X lake and from
the looks of it it is in fine condition, there are some fish in it
but not a wide variety, the lake is fine now but if you really think
about what could happen to it based on the past 2 years i think that
we should in the future look forward to do more to help it stay like
it is as we see it today , thank you!

really cool to learn about all these people. A native came and told
us stories all about their culture. I'm so glad I came to this camp.

Zacharys and Riyans day
7/19/07
Today me and Riyan played bunches of games together and had lots of
fun. We also had two special people talk to us and learned a lot.
Today we learned lot of stuff about the Athabascans and had fun.
Today I (Zachary) had bunch of fun because it was my 12 birthday and
the best thing of the day was when the lady named Fran Seager-Boss.
She talked about the Athabascans and thought
us about their lives.
Today I(Riyan) liked the to listen to the stories that Fran Seager-
Boss told us.

just walking around in the woods. For instance if your traveling in a
big group and you want to go off the trail you should spread out in a
line so that no more than one person is walking in the same spot. By
doing this you won't make any trails where there shouldn't be and you
won't kill as many plants by stepping on them. You should also if you
picking berries or plants for fun (unless your going berry picking)
only take a couple from one spot at a time so that they're will be
some left for other people to try also.
Zachary and Riyans day
7/18/07
Today we went for a hike and we took a bunch of pictures of plants.
We also had played lots of games and had a special guest named Ruth

Zacharys Days
7/17/07 Today me and the
rest of the campers play two team build ups and did a lot of
scientific experiments and talked about what might happen in a couple
hundred years. The best thing today I like was the making my own
fishing pole and fishing with it.

about how people 200 years ago used the lake, we had to dig a hole
find things and tell a story about what we thought the things where

today. I learned about the temperate, the pH, and the turbidity of
the water. We tested the water. It is important to test the water
because then we know if the fish are healthy.

My Day #2 (Mitchell Clark)
While we were digging up the treasure someone (me) was recording what
we were digging up. After we dug up the treasure we had to make a
story and somehow use digging up the treasure in our story. I got to
make up the story and will become famous.

Today I learned about the water temperature of the lake!!!!!! It was
amazing to find out that it was so cool on such a hot day.

some moss covered bark on it. My boat floated for a long time.
Some thing I thought was cool was that My boat floated under my
canoe, and came out on the other side. I tried to get it with my
paddle, but I almost flipped my boat. I had to let my instructor get
it for me.

water. Thats when i first knew this camp was going to be good. After
that we went into the forrest and ripped out trees and hauled then
over to the camp fire and burned them. Then it was lunch time we went
out into the woods and snapped squarrles necks and cooked them over
the fire. We also played a fun game with our feet where they gave us
hatchets and the first to get through a small tree won. Of course me
and my awesome muscles won. Then we played a game where you make a
raft but we decided to make it better by using dead things as the
raft, such as moose, and this kid we found. And that was about the day.

Legal Mumbojumbo
You really have to think about what you are doing when your out
having fun. Your areas you go to camp, do you ever think about what
you are doing to impact it? If you do not, you need to. On top of the
legal stuff, you really got to think about how much you are thrashing
the area you are using. Today at the lakes we learned about why the
legal stuff is put in place. It is put into place to protect the
place from the people that thrash it. It would be more fun if people
did not trash places all the time.

Team builder
To day we did a team builder, it was when we all had to stand on a
log. We had to get on the other side of the log without getting off
of the log. At first everyone was confused, we thought it wasn't
going to work, then after a while we all go the hang of it. We did
accomplish the task.
Mullet
On the way back from getting rocks for the.......rock wall, there
was a guy walking down the road, and he had an enormous mullet. We
laughed at him and then went away. (A mediocre story for a small
amount of time, sorry)
a shout out to all my peeps
I started off the day by fighting of dragons and got a short 15
minute nap.
then i went to work. we continued making the short trail to the lake.
Then i started to work on making the maps... it's turning out really
well.

Team Builder On the Log
July 12, 2007
Today we played a team builder where we had ten people on a log,
then we had to get all of the people on the other end of the logs.
This was difficult because the logs were about one foot in diameter,
and seemed like they rocked a lot. While playing you would have to
hop over people so to say. This was kind of akward and fun at the
same time. That was my favorite part of the day.
packed ship
quite the spectacular game. You must take a black trash bag and set
it on the ground, then you must fit as many people as you can on it
without falling off and not touching the ground. When everyone is on
you must be able to stay on it without falling for at least five
mississippi's. If i repeat IF you can finish this task you fold the
bag again and again until you cant do it anymore. This game calls
for lots of balance and teamwork. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!

Two journal entries because Barber was being greedy
Today I (along with my considerably less important co-worker's Matt
and Michael)(I am just kidding about that) built a boat out of purely
natural things. We tested it and it worked profoundly, PRO-FOUNDLY!
But then it got thoroughly soaked and didn't do good in the final
run. We lost. But we still had fun. And that's a good thing.
Day 2
Today I had a nice time cutting into a 4 inch root. It was
magnificent. It took a long while for me to get through it though.
But after the ritual was complete I was thoroughly satisfied. Thank you.
funny (mike)
today i was having fun watching my friend be a goof-ball he was
sticking plants in a hole in his shirt armpit. He stuck spruce with a
little hint of willow and birch trees in it and it was funny.

Trail of lake
Dear world
The stuff I did is unmentionable, so I'm mentioning it. My favorite
part of the day was actually working on the trail. It is an access
trail from the parking area to the X lake shore. The raking made the
trail wider and made it able to put gravel on it. It was more fun
then it sounded because of the random conversations that were held
between coworkerrs.
Animal Restaurant
July 11, 2007
Today we did an activity called Animal Restaurant . In this activity
we had to make a menu made out of things that the wild animals in
this area would eat. First the we (the YCC) had to make a menu and
then serve the adults, that were acting as if they were animals.
Then, we had to go out and find the things that they ordered from
us. We had to find things such as animal "leftovers", flowers, and
branches. This was a fun activity because we got to go out in the
woods and look for things in the woods that we would need. That is
why I enjoyed the Animal Restaurant.
Palaski Work
Well, today I didn't really have a highlight because we did work the
whole day. Since I had to pick something to write about, I guess that
I will write about working with palaskis. We made a trail down to one
of the x-y lakes using palaskis. We had to take out all the roots
that were down six inches or less. This was so long because we did it
half of the day.
~Paxson
All Aborde
In the team building activity that we did today was called All
Aborde. we all had to be on a piece of plastic for five seconds. This
activity taught us to trust each other. Also taught us that listing
to others is really important to getting the project done.
blog 2
today we had an activity where we found food for different people
posing as animals.
we also started clearing the trail down to the lake.
I also have plants in my armpits right now...i dont know why.
work project
training with the animal restaurant. i had a lot of fun simulating
students during team building activities, and providing realistic
problem situations that may occur during the camp.

Fishing
Today I had a blast fishing. This fishing wasn't your average rod
and real fishing. We had to use items in the wilderness and create a
fishing net because we had to simulate the fishing styles of the
Dena'ina Athabaskans. We created a net out of mainly small birch
trees and willows. A frame was constructed, and lined with a
completely inorganic construction safety vest. Though the safety vest
was illegal and ineffective our team enjoyed the experienced.

go-shark
a boat( aka 1' by 1' piece of board or what ever you can stand on
with more than one person), that everyone may be able to touch and
move with all at the same time. This game is almost like red light
green light. When the person at the end says go all who touches the
boat must move as one. When the person says shark all who touches
the boat must drop it and all must get on the boat and no one is
allowed to touch the ground. It is better to play this in groups of
thee in each team with as many teams as u want. When I played this
game this game I enjoyed it and many laughs and it was a great team
effort game.
shark!!
July 10, 2007
What I think was most fun about today was when we did the team
builder called Ship Wreck. The goal was that we had to get our whole
team, which consisted of about three to four people, to the other
side of the parking lot. The catch was that we all had to be touching
the "ship" at all times. Every time that the person who was running
the game yelled "shark" we would have to throw our board (which was
the ship) on the ground. At that time every member of the team would
jump on the board at the same time, the goal was not to touch the
ground. Whenever a team completed this first, they would get one
point. When all of the teams were at the other end of the parking
lot they would total up their points and see who received the most
points during the game. When we played this game we made ourselves
as a team stronger. I think that I liked that team builder most
because we made our team stronger, it was athletic, and I had fun
while doing it.
Fishing
To day the thing that I learned the most from, was the
archeological dig. We pretended to be digging up some archeological
things that the Dena'ina left behind. (We were not really digging up
things, just going threw things barried in a box.)
The one thing that really impressed me was finding out how they
really used all of the things around them. How the Dena'ina dressed
differently, also how they did have decorations (such as beads and
such.) Finding out how many different native groups that are in
Alaska. The Aleuts, Tglinket , Eskimo, Athabascan. How each of them
had different ways of living!

My second day at training.
leadership skills and being able to take a step into a challenging
roll. I am getting better too. I feel more secure about getting up in
front of people and speaking or explaining something. We worked on
team builders and other various projects that I feel i have had an
impact on. Today, we also made our own fishing tools so that was
pretty cool. The funniest thing of the day, however, was the GO!
SHARK! game. I wasn't able to compete in this team building game
because i was hurt but i got pictures,it was really funny.

Fishing
my name is mike, dear world of ppl who are reading this blog i made a fishing rod and tried to catch a fish but it didn't work. After i got done a little kid came up and cought a fish by pinning it to a piece of bark!!! i thought it was so cool and a little embarrassing because he could and well i couldn't but hey at least he could. the fish was a little blueish fish that no one new what it was but it was cool.
A Day at the Lakes
Dear people who strayed upon my blog,
we created a fish paddle from nothing but the raw materials that
surrounded us. As a team we better our selves even recreating. There
was a game we dubbed "shark". The object of it was to get your board
and your team across the field while touching the board. The ref says
go and when they say shark your team has to get on the board. The
board is about one and half feet in width and length, and they are
teams of four. It resembles red light green light, with a twist of
hidden team building. Expect more entries to come as the next weeks
go on.

leave no trace/mo
To keep it this way we need to use the leave no trace policies and
we'll be able to hang out and use this wonderful place for a lot longer
time. We need to do this not only for our community but for the people
that come from all over the world to visit Alaska and Talkeetna to see
the wonderful things we have to look at. so every time you go on hikes,
fishing, cannoeing, walking ect.. please leave the area your in cleaner
than when you came. By doing this we'll have less problems with animals
around humans put also with trash pollution.
